INTRODUCTION TO DENTAL ASSISTING

A dental assistant performs many tasks in the dental office. A dental assistant's tasks include getting a patient ready for examination, preparing patients for dental procedures, managing dental records, sterilizing dental instruments, providing them to the dentist when requested, preparing anesthetics, managing suction devices, taking dental x-rays, and more. The dental assistant (DA) may also remove dental sutures, clean away extra dental cement after a temp or permanent crown has been placed, and provide instructions to patients on dental care. A DA may also be involved in administrative duties such as setting and confirming appointments, processing dental bills, collection payments, reminding patients of a dental appointment, and ordering dental supplies.

LENGTH OF COURSE

This Course will Be held on Saturdays & Sundays from 8am to 5pm for 4 weeks (1month).

Special time accommodations may be an option for evening or weekday training. Upon completion of the course each student will receive all California State Certifications required to be able to work immediately within a dental office now and with your RDA. You will also be supplied with new scrubs & bleaching trays!

BECOME A DENTAL LAB. TECHNICIAN
INTRODUCTION TO DENTAL CERAMICS

Dental Technicians work with a variety of materials including waxes, plastics, precious and non-precious alloys, a variety of porcelains and composites or polymer glass combinations. Many technicians acquire skill in the use of sophisticated instruments and equipment while performing laboratory procedures. It is important for the technician to help create tooth replacements that are both attractive and functional. Technicians perform much of their work without close supervision. They often experience the satisfaction that results from taking an entire project from start to finish. If you like doing precision work with your hands, enjoy working independently and are interested in health care, a career as a Dental Laboratory Technician may be for you. The Introduction to Dental Ceramics is provided to dental staff, high school seniors, military spouses of MYCAA and those interested in changing there careers.

No Previous Dental Experience nor High School Diploma is required for this Course.

COURSE LENGTH

This Course will be held Monday - Friday 9am to 4pm for 4 weeks (1 Month). So you may understand the rhythm of a functioning Laboratory, this course is held in a actual working Dental Laboratory. Upon completion of the Course each student will receive a Certificate of Completion.

You will also be supplied with a lab coat, instruction manual & technician kit. In addition 15 CEU’s may be provided for Registered Dental Assistantants.

Pit and Fissure Sealant Certification :: 16 CE Units

All RDA's or participants working toward obtaining an RDA and are currently certified in CPR and coronal polish may enroll in this course. This is a 2 day Board approved course covering lecture, clinical, theory & DVD format by Ultradent, using UltraSeal XT. You are required to bring up to four patients (18 years of age or older, with no orthodontic bands or brackets) for sealant placement. Upon completion of clinical final and written examination on the second day, all RDA's may apply pit and fissure sealants.

Radiation Safety Certification
:: 24 CE Units

This course is for everyone wanting to learn how to take quality dental x-rays. Students will receive full instructional training in radiation safety. The course includes taking dental radiographs, processing and mounting of dental x-rays. Dexter training and 4 patients are required. Classroom instruction and a final examination are given. FMX on patients can be done in class or at your dental facility that allows you to perform clinically. In addition, if you are a professional currently in a dental facility located in another state or country needing to meet the California Radiation Certification requirements this course will allow you to receive certification at your own pace.

RDA Practical Review Seminar


This is a full day "hands-on" seminar, with individualized instruction given in a small class size enviroment. There will be extensive practice and evaluation of temporary crown fabrication and temproary sedative restoration. At the end of the day participants will participate in a "mock exam" which allows you to experience the exam in a  test-like situation.

Radiation Technique Refresher :: 15 CE Units

This is an excellent course for participants who are already California Dental Board certified and may want to brush up on there x-ray taking ability. This course will concentrate on your weakness weather it be with using the Rinn, Snap, or Bite Tab technique. There is no test given. This course concentrates purely on giving you confidence with taking bite wing, periapical, or an entire FMX.

Coronal Polish Certification :: 12 CE Units

This course is designed to teach the proper use of techniques of coronal polishing. Student must provide 2 patients for clinical portion of the course. Both patients must be at least 18 years old, free of calculus and of any health problems.

Ultrasonic Scaling Certification
:: 4 CE Units

This course is great for all RDA's and orthodontic assistants. The use and techniques will be taught on the ultrasonic scalier by the RDA in an orthodontic setting is offered with complete instruction, clinical practice, lecture and participation are given with a written exam.

Infection Control :: 2 CE Units (Mandatory)

Fulfills the California Dental Board biennial requirements for relicensure. Covers general infection control regulations for dentistry. Understand barrier protection and disinfection procedures to control the transmission of microorganisms.









California Dental Practice Act :: 2 CE Units (Mandatory)


Fulfills the California Dental Board biennial requirements for relicensure. Reviews statutes of the Dental Practice Act including license renewal requirements, use of auxiliaries in a dental practice, scope of practice for auxilliaries and dentists, citations, fines and disciplinary actions.







CPR/ AED Certification :: 4 CE Units (New) 2.5 CE Units (Renewal)

This course is great for everyone. Health care providers are mandated to be certified in CPR. External adult, child and infant training as well as Defibrillation Training (AED) will be included as part of this course. This course is mobile and can come to your office. This is a two year certification course.

Basic First Aid:: 4 CE Units

Participants learn first aid skills for treating a variety of injuries such as burns, wounds, head, neck and back injuries, and heat and cold-related emergencies.  Participants also learn to manage sudden illnesses, stroke, seizure, bites and poisoning.  This is a Red Cross taught course.

OSHA Annual Bloodborne Pathogen Training
:: 2 CE Units

Students will learn how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to prevent exposures and what to do if exposed to infectious materials.







Epinephrine Auto-Injector Training :: 2 CE Units

This module is designed to help individuals learn how to correctly administer an epinephrine auto-injector to a person who is suffering from a severe allergic reaction.

 



 



Asthma Inhaler Training :: 2 CE Units


This lesson is designed to help individuals learn how to correctly administer an asthma inhaler to a person who is having an asthma attack.
